bullet It's A New Year - That Means... New Year Resolutions!

A Fist Full of Coins

Yoga 4 Classrooms

Second Hand Therapies

Smart but Scattered

Sands Alive!

2016 is off to a running start but it's not too late to work on a few New Year resolutions...

Here are a few suggestions from Therapro:
  1. Learn - Attend a workshop, use apps, pick up a new therapy book, learn a new game to use in therapy: Catch the Match: The Eye-Catching Visual "Pair"-ception Game, Right Turn, Left Turn: The Silly Game of Changing Direction, or A Fistful of Coins (a working memory, sequencing, directionality, and expressive language skills game)
  2. Sharpen your therapy tools - Check out: The Alert Program, Drive thru Menus, Astronaut Training, Yoga, and Sensory Stories.
  3. Communicate with colleagues - Form a learning group/discussion group to: discuss therapy books and research articles, share treatment ideas, make low cost treatment tools from Low-Tech Assistive Devices, Second Hand Therapies, and Sensational Fun.
  4. Get better organized - Select a new therapy bag to hold your materials neatly and at your fingertips, buy color-coded file folders, take and use photos to document therapy. Apply executive function skill building to your own life; plan, organize, self-monitor. Help students with building executive function skills with books like Executive Skills in Children & Adolescents; Smart but Scattered, Helping Students Take Control of Everyday Executive Functions: the Attention Fix.
  5. Play more - Use play as a therapeutic tool. We know that if a child is engaged in therapy by having fun, successful therapeutic outcomes will increase. Try: Sands Alive!, Kozie Sac, or Songames for Sensory Processing.
